Starting as a wholesale bank, ABC matured and chose to diversify into Islamic and Retail Banking. This was a strategic move to bring home to the GCC and MENA region ABC’s decades of international financial expertise as planned from the start as the markets were now ready for it.

Due to adverse conditions in global financial markets being faced since 2007 till date, ABC realigned its business model to become a leading MENA-based Universal Bank. The Group will be organised in two major entities – the International Wholesale and the Universal Bank.
